Rihanna Deals with Cultural Barriers

Pop star Rihanna has captured the attention of media around the globe in recent days without the help of former boyfriend Chris Brown’s attitude.

The “Disturbia” singer spent approximately a week in Belfast to film the music video for her latest song, “We Found Love.” Rihanna first amazed the crew members at the video shoot by flirting heavily with co-star and on-screen love interest, Dudley O’Shaughnessy. According to several sources, the singer was seen flaunting her cleavage at the former boxer, as well as making herself quite comfy and at home on his lap.

The video also grabbed a bit of attention, when the singer stripped as part of the video performance. Rihanna moved from being fully dressed to a bikini and on to a mesh top, finally pulling off her last layer of coverage to go topless. The Irish farmer who owned the land where the video shoot was taking place became offended and asked that the video crew stop filming. They complied. The farmer spoke to crew members, as well as Riahanna herself, and they left each other on good terms.

Rihanna then resurfaced in headlines this week after a controversy regarding some Twitter posts that she had made to her account. As the singer would later explain to the British run of Vogue, the people of Barbados use the word c–t more as a term of endearment, likening the use of the word to men who refer to their friends as n–gas. Born in Barbados, Rihanna explained that people there were not offended by the word and used it regularly when she first came to the United States.

Rihanna went on to tell that her hair stylist had to tell her to stop using the word and explain that it was an expletive and an insult to be called that in America.
